Joy That Shapes Us

We aren’t helpless.

Waking up to the news this morning was startling and reinforced my feelings of helplessness around who we are becoming as a country.

But the thing is, we aren't helpless. We shape what's around us, and that matters.

So, I watched the sunrise color the sky for the briefest of moments. I smiled at my friend who drove across two counties to accompany a middle school Tuba player in a regional competition—on a Saturday. I got up early with the the family that headed to the woods teaching the craft of a crosscut sawyer, to keep the trails clear for needed hikes to refresh our being. I know others will spend today building new trails for other to discover. I watched my housemate pull a weekend shift at the medical clinic because people still get sick after normal office hours. And I will craft stories today for children, so they will have an ethos of love to build on.

We all are putting goodness into the world.

This goodness is what will shape us.

This goodness is what will shape us.

Don't stop.

It matters.
