Sustainable Joy
Friday after Thanksgiving and I sat on the porch collecting myself from all that was yesterday. The food coma, the family connection, the cooperative nature around the mental load of hosting the day. The mundane part of this post holiday morning is desperately hoping the garbage that was skipped yesterday will come today and not leave us abandoned for the week. I rolled the can out early, after sneaking into the rooms filled with sleeping bodies to snag the overflowing trash cans. Above I heard the geese work together to fly onward, their V subtly shifting to give rest to each member in the cold sky. Finding my way to the porch, piled under blankets, cup of tea in hand, I was startled by an airborne announcement, a loud proclamation, not geese this time, but swans, telling the world of their presence, their flight patterns also making space for sustainable existence. Nature being nature, inviting me to pause and notice its wisdom before the world spins into December. #joyasresistance
